The Slieve Bloom Mountains Nature Reserve is a protected area, and as such there are a range of activities which are not allowed or which need a permit.
Camping is prohibited
Drone usage is prohibited
Shooting is strictly prohibited on the Nature Reserve
The use of recreational vehicles such as quad bikes and scramblers is strictly prohibited.
The following require a permit from the NPWS:
School/college groups
Researchers
Filming or TV work
Commercial walking tours (we request all walking groups of 20 or more to consult in advance in relation to routes).
Army exercises
Dog trialling
All other commercial activities
